Media Training Workshops
We offer three phases of media training depending on your media background and issues. All media training workshops are carefully researched and custom-tailored to your requirements. Questions and the interviewer's approach in video-taped mock interviews are extremely realistic and deal with your specific issues.
Basic Media Training
This day-long workshop deals with the inner workings of the media, how to prepare for the media encounter, how to think like a reporter, how to develop your communications agenda, and "direct the interview" in order to effectively get YOUR message across. Focus is also on delivery style and content, appearance and poise, and controlling TV jitters. Video-taped scenarios cover broadcast interviews, public affairs programs, and satellite interviews.
Advanced Media Training
An intensive media training workshop that goes beyond the basics and focuses on improving response techniques and delivery style in a variety of media settings as well as how to control the situation and take the interview where YOU want it to go. We also teach how to develop and implement future media strategies. Depending on your specific needs, exercises include the satellite interview, handling the hostile reporter, the ambush interview, and setting up executing the successful news conference.
Crisis Communications
Crisis Communications is not on-the-job training. A comprehensive, and well-rehearsed crisis communications plan must be in place BEFORE the event. The key is to respond immediately - with authority, conviction, and contrition where necessary. This intense two-day course teaches how to prepare the crisis communications plan, how to take responsibility without assuming liability, who shall speak and when, how to set up and run a crisis action command center, and how to handle the media. We analyze a history of crisis events and show what went right and what went wrong – how a company was ruined, or how it survived and went on with its reputation not only intact but enhanced.
Methodology
Practice interviews are video-taped and played back to correct deficiencies and reinforce strengths. Media scenarios cover a wide range of encounters typical in television, radio & print news. Questions deal with your specific issues.
Social Media
As part of our training, we also show how to effecively utilize the new social media to communicate with the public, get your message to the media, and ensure accuracy and fairness |
